ANNOUNCEMENTS:

·         Christ is born! Glorify Him!

·         Slava: In place of the Sermon, we are going to learn about Slava's from the Yovanovich family and Fr. Jim. If you would like to adopt your own Saint and learn more about a Slava and what it is, please see Fr. Jim.

·         New Years Service: On Friday, December 31, Vespers will be at 6pm. On New Years Day, the Moleben Service will be at 11am.

·        No Vespers: There will be no Vespers the next two Saturdays due to Christmas and New Years.

·        Weekly Envelopes: 2011 weekly envelopes will be ready to take home next Sunday.

·        Nut roll: Frozen nut roll $12 during coffee hour.  

·        Help Needed: We need some help taking out a TV from Fr. Jim's van that Ann Nolan donated to the church. Thanks!

·        Please keep in your prayers: Popadia Christoff is in Akron General Hospital with pneumonia. She is in room 4123. Please keep her in your prayers.

·         C.O.C.A. Cabaret Dinner: On Sunday, February 20th, 2011, we will be hosting the C.O.C.A. Dinner/Dance. We are looking for a committee to put together a menu and help with the planning of it, including the selling of tickets. Please see Jim Waltenberger right away if you are interested in serving on the committee.

·         Spaghetti Dinner Advertising: St. Thomas Church would benefit greatly if we were to advertise our spaghetti dinners more. They help to keep our doors open, making this a top priority. However, we don't have the funds we need to advertize right now. So we are turning to the parish: If you would like to donate any amount of money to help St. Thomas advertize our finest asset, please see a board member. Thanks and God Bless!

·         IOCC Sunday Dinner: On Sunday, November 21st,  IOCC is having a dinner at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, sponsored by the Council of Orthodox Churches of Akron (COCA).  The dinner is at 6pm and the guest speaker is Nick Chakos, IOCC Development Officer. ·         No Lecture Today: Due to the Board Meeting today, we will not be able to have our monthly lecture today. We will not be able to have it next week either, due to the Quarterly Meeting. The lecture will be in two weeks, on Sunday, November, 21st and it will be over "Our responsibilities as Orthodox Christians in terms of ethics and morals."

As always, we must keep Fr Vlado in our prayers as he lives on the road, and for Popadia Toni's health and welfare!

·         Fr. Jim is Home: Thanks to all of my Parish Family for your prayers during my drive to Texas!  By your prayers we discovered a brake line leak after we had driving through rush hour traffic while I was towing a car behind the fully loaded truck!  Pray that it does work!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

·         Memory Eternal:  Lazo Frengou Fell Asleep in the Lord and was buried with much love and honor yesterday.  The Family was most appreciative of the magnificent mercy meal that our ladies put on for them.  They were surprised that we had a few of our regulars from spaghetti dinner helped serve!  What a blessing it was to see a few of our culinary experts pass along how some of the dishes were prepared.  Special Thanks to Anny Fry for agreeing to be the head chef and for all those who helped prepare, cook and serve that amazing luncheon.  I am most impressed that the ladies are thinking of reviving this blessed ministry to those of our Parish Family in such times.  I also wish to thank the Frengou Family for making the largest donation ever to the church for that funeral Memory Eternal, Lazo!

·         Setting the Hall: Your help would be appreciated to reset the Banquet Hall for Spaghetti Dinner.  Thanks in advance!

·         Church Hayride: Sunday School would like to thank all those helpers that made the church picnic fun for the children. Bring your photos of the church picnic to church and put in the basket by the candle stand.  No names on the pictures please. A winner will be chosen at the annual hayride – which will be Sunday, October 10th right after church at the Mitov property. No rain date – flyers are available by the candle stand. Children and parents are free; guests are $2.

·         OCW Membership Tea: Today at 3pm please join us as St. Thomas hosts the OCW (Orthodox Christian Women) Membership Tea. All women are welcome to come! Volunteers are needed to detail the downstairs hall for the tea after Liturgy! Thanks! J  

·         Monthly Lecture: Next Sunday after Divine Liturgy, we will have our monthly lecture over the Gospels, with a focus on the diversity and concordance within them. Please join us if you haven't for past lectures, to learn and grow spiritually with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ!

·         Right to Life: On October 2, from 1:00-3:00pm, Right to Life will be having their national Life Chain starting at 692 E. Market St. and stretching east and west from that point. On Sunday, October 3, from 2:30-3:30pm, the event will be held at the Courthouse in Ravenna.
