ANNOUNCEMENTS:
· Another Bake Sale! Our next workshop for the Nativity Cookie Sale will be held this Friday beginning 9am. We will be baking triple chocolate biscotti, Greek Kourabiedes and Viennese Orange Kisses. Experienced bakers are appreciated! This sale will be held in the middle of December. We would like to prepare boxes of a cookie assortment. Workshops will be held every Friday between November 30th and December 14th at 9am. Three other workshops will be scheduled and published later in the bulletin. We would appreciate donations of flour, sugar, eggs, semi-sweet or white chocolate bits. We have purchased 25 lb of nuts from Acme and would appreciate donations to defer the $100 cost. Come join the fun as we bake, chat and have great fellowship in the kitchen! If you would like to bake at home,
please let us know what and how much you will be preparing. Annie Fry is the contact for this project.
· Ribbon! Do you have ribbon, raffia or other stringy stuff around the house that we could use to decorate the Nativity Cookie Sale boxes? Please give your odds, ends and rolls to Annie Fry or Lisa Springston.
· St. George's will sponsor a Holiday Extravaganza on December 7th. It will feature a buffet and Card Party with door prizes and a big holiday raffle. Contact Alice Elias (330-882-6787) or Renee Reale (330-338-1815) for info and tickets.
· Our last Spaghetti Dinner will be held this Wednesday. Please try to join us for our farewell either to eat or to work. The Banquet Hall Events Committee, in conjunction with the Parish Board, has decided to end our Wednesday Spaghetti Dinners. After expenses, we are not seeing a useful profit from these events. Despite continuing to offer good homemade food at a good price, our efforts to improve attendance have not been successful and the event is not currently being supported by the parish. The Committee would like to thank all those tireless workers who helped over the years and to those few parishioners who supported that event.
· Our very own Jim Waltenberger has felt the call to pursue formal studies in Orthodox theology. He is in the process of applying to take St. Stephen's Course in Orthodox Theology, a three-year, distance- education-based, certificate program. The course is aimed at introducing laity and clergy alike to the richness of Orthodox theology through rigorous and extensive readings and practical ministry projects. Students also receive in-person instruction during a one-week summer residency. Completion of this three year program is the next step Jim becoming a deacon. We are proud of his growth and progress during the six years he's been at St Thomas. Tuition is $450 per semester. Anyone who feels led to contribute to Jim's school and/or vestment expenses can do so by labeling your gift for Jim W. He is a beloved, hard-working member of our family, and we all pray God's blessings on this next step of his journey.
· Property Maintenance There are many small landscaping projects that need to be completed on the property and this fall would be an ideal time. Very reasonable estimates for these projects have been submitted by our lawn service, Fast Trak Lawns. Please consider donating toward a specific beautification of our property. See Annie Fry or Rich Zahoranski.
