BIRTHDAYS: Ed Latchaw (1)
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
· Memorial Service: Since yesterday was one of the four Memorial Saturdays in which we commemorate those who have Fallen Asleep in the Lord, we will have the Trisagion after Liturgy today so all can participate and get into the habit of praying for those who have gone on before if we don't pray for them already. Memory Eternal.
· C.O.C.A Cabaret Dinner/Dance: A huge thank you to everyone who made last Sunday's C.O.C.A Dinner/Dance possible! It truly was a talked about event! And thank you Popadia Kim for making all fourteen cakes and cheesecakes!! We also owe Jim Waltenberger a big thank you for taking this project under his belt and doing such a wonderful job! Jim has a few words to say to his parish family: "A big "Thank You" to everyone who contributed their time and talent to make this event a huge success. Your dedication is admirable. Many years to you all. Again, thank you."
· Reverse Raffle: Last night's reverse raffle couldn't have gone better with our big winner's being John & Rose Marie Kostoff! Thank you to everyone who made this event happen, from our wonderful three musketeers in the kitchen, to our dedicated and loyal parishioners who helped with preparation, the clean up and everything else in-between! And of course, what would be an event without Popadia Kim's desserts? She wowed us once again with five decadent cakes and five rich and creamy cheesecakes! Again, than you to everyone who helped! May God grant you all many years! J
· Monthly Lecture: Our next lecture will be next Sunday, March 6 over "Prayers of the Departed." We will discuss questions such as "Do our prayers help the dead get into heaven?" and "Aren't we responsible for getting our own selves into heaven?"
· Great Lent: Just a reminder, with this week being one of the preparatory Sundays before Great Lent, we are in a Meat Fast. Next Sunday is Cheesefare Sunday, meaning next Monday the Great Fast begins. This is a great time in the year for each of us to grow spiritually and to really "set aside all earthy cares" and deepen are relationship with God and possibly do things that we wouldn't normally do. Try having morning and evening prayers each day; starting and ending your day in prayer to God will not only help us through the fast, but maybe become a habit. We should all look forward to this wonderful and most festive time of the year!
· Membership Committee Chair: The church is looking to fill the position of a Membership Committee Chair. If anyone is interested, please see a board member.
· Weekly Envelopes: The rest of our weekly envelopes have arrived! You can pick them up at coffee hour at the table next to the coffee table.
· Home Blessings: Just a reminder to call Fr Jim directly to have your home blessed at 330.701.3654. Some in our parish family have the mistaken notion that their homes need to be blessed only once. They are anointed with oil only once with the 1st blessing, but are blessed with the sprinkling of the Holy Water each year.
