ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Lenten Services: Because of Father Vlado's work schedule, we will not be able to hold the services we have in the past. In the event you wish to attend services at another local Orthodox church, Annunciation holds a Presanctified Liturgy every Wednesday at 5:45 pm and St. Elia's holds Presanctified Liturgies on both Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 pm. As we become aware of other local Orthodox services, we will add them here, so check back next week for more information. Also, local Vespers services through March are as follows:
    • Sun March 11 St George Orthodox Church (3204 Ridgewood Rd Fairlawn) 5 pm followed by Lenten meal
    • Sun March 18 St Elia the Prophet Orthodox Church (64 W Wilbeth Rd Akron) 5 pm followed by Lenten meal
    • Sat March 24 Feast of the Annunciation Vespers Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church (129 S. Union St Akron) 7 pm
    • Sun March 25 No Vespers
  • Lenten Study: From March 15 through April 5, Rose and Steve Yovanovich are hosting a Lenten Study, "Christianity and Pleasure", based on the book by Fr. David R. Smith. The study will be held on Thursdays from 7pm-8:30 pm at their home.
  • New Church Secretary –If you need to contact the new church secretary Amanda Caito for any reason, please do so through her email address – amcaito19@gmail.com.
  • Lenten Tea – Today: Thank you to those of you participating in the Lenten Tea today to help welcome Father Vlado and Popadia Toni!
  • A very special Thank You from Ann Fry: Thank you so much to Carol Karakis, Rose Yovanovich, and Joann Karos for their baking efforts this week! Also Thanks to Nancy Boville for her donations, and of course, a big thank you to Steve Yovanovich for his help with clean up!
  • Volunteers: We are looking for help with the weekly Fish Fry's. If you can help every week, every other week or once or twice in the six week period, please see Ann Fry, Carol or George Karakis, Joanne Karos or Rose Yovanovich. If you are willing to do this or alternate with someone, please see one of the board members.
  • Pascha Baking: If there are any volunteers who would like to help with baking for our Pascha bake sale, please see Annie Fry for dates and times. Advance order forms are available from Annie Fry.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Memorial/Coffee Hour: Alex and Jean Sombaty would like to have a Panachida for Jeans Mother Cathrine Bilica who passed September 3rd. 2011. She would be celebrating her 89th birthday on March 4th.  Cathrine would attend our church with Alex whenever her legs were strong enough.  Alex and Jean will sponsor coffee hour today in Memory of Catherine. Elaine Marzuola is also having a Memorial for Nadejda Hunter on her 40 days after her Falling Asleep in the Lord. Memory Eternal!
  • New Church Secretary – Amanda Caito, daughter of George and Carol Karakis, is taking over secretary duties for Sara Tyrell. Thanks, Sara, for all your hard work! If you need to contact Amanda for any reason, please do so through her email address – amcaito19@gmail.com.
  • Orthodox Sunday Vesper Service: Orthodox Sunday Vespers will be tonight at 5 pm at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Mogadore with a Lenten meal to follow.
  • Lenten Tea – 3-11-12: If you have not already done so, please RSVP to Stacey Zahoranski or Rose Yovanovich no later than Thursday, March 8, 2012 so they have an accurate count of those attending.
